Before Ana was born I was an avid cyclist -- but not the annoying kind. I never owned a bike jersey or bike shorts. I just rode my bike everywhere. On average I racked up sixty miles a week. After she was born life (and my riding schedule) changed dramatically -- I traded my bikes for car seats. Slowly, I am starting to ride again, however. Ana rides with me, too; we run short errands with her in the Burley, but it's nothing it was like two years ago. Today was a big day for us, though. I just bought a new junker bike and was installing a new bike seat and she asked if she could help. I showed her how the tools worked; she held a bolt in place as I prepared a wrench. She even held the tire in place so the bike wouldn't tip over. I'm proud to say she got her first bike grease ever, too. There's a streak on her knee from the chain and some on her forearm. They are slight stains, but I felt the need to document this first foray into biking culture.
Knee grease!
