If Ana had a motto these last two days, it would be: "sleep is for the weak." Despite all our tricks (feeding, burping, changing, bouncing, holding) Ana has been determined to stay awake through nap time. We are quickly determining her personality -- she is patient when most babies would go ape shit (nurses were amazed when she barely flinched during her IV blood draw), but when she doesn't want to do something, she digs her heels in and is suddenly quite willful (even though napping should be more pleasant than a needle). Ana will start to nod off, but as soon as sleep is imminent she will literarily shake her head awake as if to say: I don't want to miss anything. Today, while trying to put her to sleep (an event which took an hour), I set her down for a second next to a running hairdryer while reaching for a wipe. The result was magic (although she did wake up an hour later). I am happy to report, however, that Ana took a hard three hour nap later that afternoon. It's a learning experience for all of us!
she's soooo tiny !! adorable.
