Back to Manila...

Going back to CA allowed Jen and I the opportunity to revisit some old memories from before Ana was born. Our first apartment together was on College Ave, in the Rockridge neighbored of Oakland. We paid half our current mortgage for a one bedroom studio that was literally smaller than our garage in MN. I made an office out of the front closet, setting up my computer on an end table and I hung my bike from a hook on the ceiling when I wasn't writing. It was essentially a three-foot by three-foot cubicle. Our bedroom and living room where the same space, but Jen hung a curtain to separate the two. I kept my clothes in a box under the bed. It was a lot of fun, but terribly cramped. This was the apartment we came home to after I proposed to Jen; this was the apartment where we first talked about moving to MN together; It was the first place where we seriously talked about whether to have kids -- we were about two-and-a-half years away from meeting Ana. Given this, it seemed appropriate to bring Ana here.
And of course, she strolled up the driveway like she owned the place...
