In the last few weeks Jen and I have gotten several comments from people on the street about how small Ana is. One lady (carrying a baby herself) asked if I really had a baby in my baby carrier. Maybe there are men who wear empty baby carriers around, but I am not one of them. Last week, a woman came up to me while I was bottle feeding Ana at a department store, as we waited for Jen outside the dressing room. The conversation went like this:
Lady: "What a pretty baby."
Me: "Thank you."
Lady: "Wow, she looks sleepy."
Me: "She always looks sleepy." (this could be it's own post; the girl hates to sleep)
Lady: "She looks great for a preemie."
Me: "She's not a preemie."
Lady: "Really? She's so tiny."
Me: "She's not tiny at all. She's eight pounds, ten ounces. And look at her feet."
Lady: "My baby was so much bigger."
Then Ana waved her arm at the lady, which the lady interpreted as a sweet, endearing little gesture, but I knew the truth:
Ana: "Hey, will you beat it? You're really bothering the hell out of me."

ana's a rockstar and flipped that lady off. yea ana! you rock.
ReplyDeleteFunny!
ReplyDeleteI gotta defend the fat babies, though. They're pretty great, too. :)
But yeah, 8 lbs is no small baby!
